Explores pivotal moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turns them on their head to take audiences into uncharted territory. Chadwick Boseman’s final Marvel project before his death. The Watcher: [Opening narration to each episode] Time. Space. Reality. It’s more than a linear path. It’s a prism of endless possibilities, where a single choice can branch out into infinite realities and create alternate worlds to the ones you know. I am the Watcher. I am your guide through these vast new realities. Follow me and ponder the question… “What if?” After the Marvel logo appears, it changes to an animated form in the series’ art style. Edited into Marvel Studios: Legends: Guardians of the Multiverse (2023). A very straightforward episode where everything is rushed to get each piece to fit properly into the puzzle. And my expression was also pretty straight when I watched this episode as there was no thrill or even logical storytelling. I understand that maybe it’s an animated series aimed at kids? But only the kids who are familiar with the entire MCU so far might enjoy it. Let’s see how the rest of the episodes turn out, but I’m certainly not very excited about them after this one. Edit: The second episode gave a real sense of what the MCU is about. It was creative and thoughtful and contained major “WHAT IF” moments. I really enjoyed seeing T’challa back on screen. However, the third episode was the deciding factor and caused me to revise this review. It was so suspenseful and exciting to watch, I could have watched an entire movie on this episode. It explored the characters we know on a level that leaves you wanting more. I hope to get to a 10 star edit by the end of the season. Edit II: Here goes my another star for a “weird” movie. 39; still a thought-provoking episode that was by far the best of the bunch in terms of writing, voiceover, animation and plot. Special mention goes to Benedict Cumberbatch who handles the voice like a boss. Bow down to Marvel for making this one. Episode five was definitely entertaining though, it was humorous and engaging with quality animation but again showed too much at once and didn’t give viewers enough time to get to grips with things. Still a 9/10 overall for the series until at least the next two episodes. You’ll have to pass episode 4 to get a 10 from me.
